Age of Emergence – The War Within Ourselves (EP Review)

Age of Emergence

Born and bred in Newcastle NSW, Age of Emergence are back with their anticipated new release The War Within Ourselves. And what a war it is! You can immediately hear that they have been working hard on pushing the envelope of their sound.

With a huge drum sound, a dry, dusty guitar tone and a strong bass presence Age of Emergence bring a few interesting elements together in The War Within Ourselves. You can hear immediate comparisons to the likes of Mastodon, Iron Maiden and even a sprinkle of Nevermore with the vocals having a slight Warrel Dane flavour. While the production may not be the most polished, The War Within Ourselves still sounds great, with all the elements of the three-piece having a powerful pronounced voice.

With this release Age of Emergence have a fantastic representation of their sound. would be impressive live, with massive Black Label riffs like in Two Halves, and Stone Cold Icarus utilising intricate dynamics the show would-be killer.
