To Octavia release moving new single “Pluto” alongside mini documentary

To Octavia

Melbourne alternative metal darlings, To Octavia, have today released a moving new single and music video for “Pluto“. The track is a breathtaking final instalment of their sophomore EP, ‘Somewhere In A World, Not Of The Dream,’ which came out last July, and is accompanied by a mini-documentary. Watch it here.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, Rumours, The Last Martyr), “Pluto explores the ending of a relationship and pushing through all the hardships to find a better place for yourself,” says vocalist, Merry Kirk-Holmes. “It’s a song that flows through many emotions.

Instrumentally “Pluto” was written with the intent to balance dark and brooding elements with feelings of inspiration and hope, supporting the track’s overarching message that no matter how stuck you may feel, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Guitarist Molly Congreve shares “I remember how exciting it was, because it was so emotional.  Even the guitars. Everything about it felt like it was telling its own story, I feel, which was one of the first times I ever felt like that with our songs.”

The “Pluto” music video is the perfect cinematic companion to the track. Directed by Colin Jeffs of Ten of Swords Media (Make Them Suffer, Yours Truly, Diamond Construct), the clip pairs the urban whimsy of Melbourne’s lantern-lit China Town with a foggy tree-lined meadow to express the juxtaposition of these light and dark elements.

The companion documentary short by Crow River Visuals, ‘Pluto: A To Octavia Documentary,’ not only chronicles the band in the studio writing and recording, but gives raw insight into just how special this bookend track is to the band.

The last twelve months have been a whirlwind for To Octavia who have added a multitude of milestones to their belt including playing UNIFY Forever, embarking on their first national headline tour, collecting countless glowing reviews and so much more.
