Until I Wake Share New Lyric Video ‘The Reverence’

Until I Wake

Buffalo quartet Until I Wake — new vocalist Justin Smith, alongside bassist Ryan Ridley, guitarists August Geitner and Niko Karras, and drummer Alex Curtin — have just dropped the lyric video for new single The Reverence.

The Reverence is easily one of the heaviest songs that Until I Wake have ever unleashed — rife with double bass blasts, screams that sound as though they clawed their way out of hell after a hard-fought battle, and a full on assault of riffs that mimic heavy artillery on the battlefield. The song is completed by neo-industrial crunch and hellacious synths, making for a wildly metallic ride.

The Reverence is ultimately an apoplectic metal anthem designed to empower those who’ve been doubted and to push back against anyone who lacks the fortitude or bravery to see the bigger picture. Produced and recorded by Landon Tewers of The Plot In You, The Reverence really rips.

“The Reverence is a big ‘f**k you’ to all the people who try to shit on you, to the people who tried to shit on me when I joined the band, to the teachers in school who would try to convince me music was a waste of time, and to the ones who hate themselves so much, their only joy in life is to drag people down to their level cause they’re too afraid to take risks and chase something for themselves,” states Smith. “Deep within this risk taking group of individuals, is an unspoken respect, therefore the name The Reverence.”

Karras offers further insight, saying, “I wrote the instrumental after leaving the gym in about three hours before heading to Landon’s studio. I had so much adrenaline after working out, we ended up making the heaviest song we have ever written.”
