Villa Morta explore perspectives on new single “The Abstract”

Villa Morta

Step into “The Abstract“, the latest single from Melbourne heavy independants, Villa Morta.

Recorded by Jamie Marinos (Pridelands, Inhibitor), mixed by George Lever (Sleep Token, Loathe) and mastered by Jens Bogren (Thornhill, Spiritbox, Monuments), Villa Morta’s latest offering demonstrates a step up in maturity and craftsmanship, delving deep into themes of self-actualisation and the ultimate search for one’s true identity.

“We live in the abstract, face this truth” screams the band against a pummelling backdrop. “The Abstract” explores the idea that we all perceive the world differently, “We can witness the same things as each other and experience them completely differently,” explains the band. “Life is not just black and white, it’s ever evolving in its complexity. The universe is in constant flux and chaos… we’re simply along for the ride.”

Accompanying the new single is a visual representation of a dynamic journey through the band’s unique personal experiences. The quartet depict a moment in each of their lives where the view of themselves and the world changed forever. Watch the video here.

Villa Morta are gearing up to launch the new single live for the first time on Friday March 31 at Stay Gold in Melbourne with special guests Druid and Liar.

Mosh Morrissy (vocals), Masa Myer (guitar/vocals), Tom Clarke (drums) and Thomas Campbell (bass) are the quartet that make up Villa Morta. Villa meaning house and Morta meaning death.

Villa Morta were forged in the heart of the Australian heavy music scene and released their debut EP ‘Subvert’ in 2021, where they quickly made a name for themselves with their intense live shows and powerful sound. ‘Subvert’ explored themes of life, death, our spiritual home and the place we find ourselves when we die and encouraged listeners to question the paradigms that govern those and the world around us.

With a wide range of influences, Villa Morta create a unique blend of aggression and technical proficiency, crafting a sound that appeals to fans of Make Them Suffer, Northlane and Erra to name a few. The members find inspiration and influence through a fascination with the mysteries of life, ever-present in their new single “The Abstract”.

“The Abstract” is available now and streaming everywhere.
