Writhing – Eternalised in Rot (EP Review)

Eternalised in Rot is only two tracks but it sure packs a punch, this teaser of a release sets expectations high for what Writhing will bring to the Melbourne Death Metal scene.

Eternalised in Rot brings the brutality of old school death with some deep melodic elements. Writhing has a hellish gut-wrenching sound, characterised by fast riffing, intense bass, guttural vocals, and powerful drumming by Jake Sproule (Whoretopsy).  The production is well polished but has a grit, a rawness of brutal death which suits the extreme nature of both tracks.

For a teaser of a release, Writhing has captured heaviness at its best while the tempo changes create some melodic doom elements. So I am keen, keen to hear more.

I rate Eternalised in Rot by Writhing 5 out of 5 roo’s, but instead of roos, let’s make that 5 immortalised rotten corpses.
