Truth Corroded – The Saviours Slain (Album Review)

Truth Corroded - The Saviours Slain

On my first listen to Truth Corroded my ears immediately pricked up to the anti-war spiel to the opening track ‘Precipice’.

Being all anti-war and a truther my self I felt I was certainly going to identify with this album. With track names like ‘They Are Horror’ and ‘It’s Fear, I Breathe’ certainly conjure up thoughts of a band that is anti-government and anti-elitist.

Great! The world needs more like this.

This is a terrific Thrash – Metalcore album, If this is where Aussie metal is heading then we are nothing if not more so on par with the rest of the world in this genre. Truth Corroded have been perfecting their art since 1997 and they have come a long way since then. The Saviours Slain is a release to be most proud of. The production of this album is beautiful, everything is laid out before you so perfectly, from the drums kicking and pounding in rhythmic synchronicity, to the thrill-seeking / chugging guitar riffs melting your face off and the sweet interception of guitar solo ear-candy.

Vocals that just get into the fibres of your flesh and feel like the voice of reason when nothing seems to add up. you’re there and feeling it, this album isn’t just for your ears, it transverses much more than that.

If you haven’t heard these guys or have ever been tempted to try them do yourself a favour and get this album any way you can. It’s guaranteed not to disappoint, you will be in thrash metal heaven from beginning to end. How did Aussie metal come such a long way in such a short time? Is it something in the water? It could be because we (the metalheads) are the most devoted music fans in the world, and we are constantly striving for new levels of heaviness and brutality. This will always be expected from us and that’s a given, but as long as bands like Truth Corroded are around we will not be dissatisfied.

This reviewer gives The Saviours Slain a rating of Metal-Roos’ 4/5 headbanging skippies.
