Vile Crone – Apostle (EP Review)

Apostle is the first EP from the Australian Black/Doom Metal band Vile Crone. Vile Crone is a solo project inspired by bands like Behemoth (early EPs), Darkthrone, Arcturus, and many others.

The remarkable about this record is the artwork. The cover is fascinating and well done. The instrumental work, however, is something that we can call “an unusual, chaotic, but interesting mash-up of genres and sounds”. The sound is like some electronic steps and instrumentation that blends with the deep raspy melody of doom metalwork. The vocal work is pretty impressive, sometimes the screams go to up, high-pitched screaming distorted on the mixing with the deep death growls, characteristic of the black metal. Lyrical work made this record feel like the nightmare is coming to life. Another remarkable thing is how the mixed genres work with each other without breaking the rhythm and esthetic’s of the music.

Very impressive!

This EP will bring back to your mind the good blackened metal EPs with a fresh and unique style. It is attractive at the view and appealing to keep listening. Give it a listen it won’t hurt. I would like to see what this becomes a project by time.
