Cancer Bats is surely a band that wreaks havoc into a live show, with lots of energy in their music, and that is more obvious than ever on their latest release “Psychic Jailbreak”.
It is a mix of genres, that all have the common feature of making people bounce: fragrances of early 2000s Nu metal, as well as the dominant presence of punk/hardcore punk, and even hardcore metal at times.
Add that to very catchy, well-executed vocals, and you get a release that’s going to top charts.
And this proves that you can top the charts without having to rub up radio stations the right way while staying true to your values and to what you stand for. And that is what extreme metal was made of. The slower songs add more balance to the album, making it breathe, and moving you from one atmosphere to another.
