Degeneratum – Circuits (EP Review)

Following the split of Undermine the Supremacy, vocalist Anthony approached his partner in growls, Pip, to work with him again with his new project. Once Pip heard the early tracks he was hooked and work began to fill out the other positions in the band. Bassist Peta was recruited through a mutual friend of the band along with Greg on the drums. Finding two guitarists proved to be somewhat of a challenge, however, after searching and much trial and error Alex and Luke were added to the lineup and work began on the band’s first ep.

Circuits does not feel like the first release from a new band. In fact, the band sound like they have been playing together for years. The dual vocals of Pip and Anthony are an incredible addition to the band.

When both voices are screaming there is a depth and intensity to the music that is distinctive to this vocal pairing. The guitar work by Luke and Alex is tight and technical with beautiful moments of melody.  while the bass playing and drumming by Peta and Greg hold down the lower end with ferocious intensity. This is a release that comes out swinging and doesn’t allow the listener to get bored. Hard hitting death metal which will not disappoint.
