This talented four-piece thrash metal band from Sydney is definitely worth a listen. This is their third album, and it’s a concept album about the Pinochet Regime, which resulted in thousands of deaths and tortures through Chile.
They quote Slayer, Vio-lence, Death, Anthrax, MOD, SOD, Sacred Reich as influences, and this I can definitely hear, as well as adding their own unique contribution to it.
The album opens with a slow tribal build-up and explodes into the second song, Dissension, a solid speed metal type piece. The state of Siege follows with strong snare work which is already my favorite. The lament shows the singing talents of frontman Raul Alvarez and the guitarist in an unexpected acoustic piece that works very well.
Blood fire is a brutal number, with a shouting intro that then bursts into an energetic thrash arrangement.
These guys work hard, and there are 14 songs on this album that are all great in their own way.
Raul has a lot to say, and it’s an ambitious album. He has kept production reasonably raw and has let the playing speak for itself, and it speaks volumes. I think they have pulled it off and am keen to hear more from them.
