David Reece‘s newest “Baptized by Fire” is thoroughly impressive – taking the listener on a groove-oriented heavy metal journey accompanied by his powerful and dynamic vocal range. The album opens with the track, “Enemy is Me.” Out of the gate, Reece brings a heavy metal feel that takes you back to bands like Badlands, Metal Church, Heavy Bones, and others of the late 80s. The amazing guitar work, melodies, hooks, and top-notch production are a bonus. The album continues in this direction with songs like “No Rest for the Wicked” and “Acceptance of Denial.” Overall, the album seems to be mid-paced – both refreshing and nostalgic, in many respects. All in all, this album is a must-listen for fans of traditional heavy metal with a new spin.
