Accuser – Diabolic (Album Review)

Accuser - Diabolic

For a band that has been around as long as ACCU§ER (albeit with a number of disruptions in the longevity), writing really good, hard and fast thrash is like riding a bike. You never forget. The line up is Frank Thoms – vocals and guitar, Uwe Schmidt – guitar, Frank Kimpel bass, and Oliver Fechner – drums, and on their latest release, Diabolic (released April 2013 on the Red Shift Music label) they each pack a punch that should leave any avid thrash fan, completely satisfied.

This album will 100% not disappoint (give or take a few percentage points). As a matter of fact, yours truly felt like a kid in a candy shop, there’s so much going on, it’s hard to know where to start (with this review).

The album does mellow you in with a beautifully sinister intro into Apocalyptic Decay and for the next hour it is an incredible mix of gut-wrenching vocals, speed precision riffs, and pounding rhythms interspersed with perfectly timed tempo changes, harmony guitars, and peaceful melodies (the latter being a minute but perfectly executed part of the release).

To go through the entire album would be an injustice to the readers and avid listeners of metal.

There are so many good tracks here, you could write all day about the specifics but for the sake of good order my personal standouts are Diabolic, Cannibal Insanity, Save your Legend, Immortal Aggression, and World Wide Violence.

I suggest you should just get your hands on a copy and listen for yourself.

In all honesty, this album is vicious and shows ACCU§ER are not only well and truly back…. but back with a vengeance.
