Drown In Sulphur - Dark Secrets of the Soul

“Dark Secrets of the Soul” is the new album of Drown In Sulphur. A deathcore requiem is easy to enjoy but has a complex and carefully selected melody.

“Adveniat Regnum Tuum” is an intro that confuses the masses. Is it aliens or souls? The only thing is that it is quite disturbing.

First, there is a Black Metal riff, but “Eclipse Of The Sun Of Eden” offers the audience a spectacular view of a modern growl that has gone beyond of how the vocal cords can reach such vibrations.

“Buried By Snow And Hail” uses wisely the contrast that orchestration can add to a song. Also, drums set the speed of this Deathcore madness.

As we heard in the other songs, “Unholy Light” is full of unpredictable breakdowns that modern metal offers.

Changing the mood, the Italians play “Lotus” which has an acoustic intro and gradually becomes an emotional dark ballad.

The Italians are still emotional in “Dark Secrets Of The Soul”, but this one develops with a ghastly atmosphere with raging riffs and a superb combination of growling vocals and orchestration.

“Say My Name” has that oddly satisfying obscure vibe. Slow, but heavy and perfect to headbang to.

“Vampire Communion” is an atmospheric song that got to be like a transition to the end of this harrowing album.

The grand finale is “Shadow Of The Dark Throne”. The Italians put all of their features in this one. A disturbed symphony that chills your soul.

Drown In Sulphur crafted an album that is meant to be disturbing and at the same time, a beautiful piece of art as it is.
