Sinheresy – Event Horizon (Album Review)

Sinheresy - Event Horizon

Italy’s Sinheresy continues the evolution of their modern metal sound with their fourth full-length release the Event Horizon, from which there is no escape.

Featuring the beautifully clear and precise voice of Cecilia Petrini and the strong vocals of Stefano Sain, they lead the music with passion, dynamics and emotion. Comparisons with other dual vocal bands are unfair. They create their own sense of wonder and juxtaposition of darkness and light especially on tracks ‘’Black Spirit’’ (inspired by Yūki Tabata’s “Black Clover”) and the excellent ‘’The Calling”. ‘’The Life Left Behind’ has one of those hooks and such a memorable chorus that it bangs around in your head for days long after it’s finished.

“’ Forbidden Desire’ reflects their passion and energy; Sinheresy bristles with energy and optimism against heartache and turmoil.

Musically it’s tough clinical modern metal and surprisingly heavy in places with some of the breakdowns and an excellent rhythm section. The production is crisp and clear, giving it that sci-fi edge that is apt as the album ends on the conceptual trilogy of Event Horizon: “Gravity’, ‘’Entropy” and ‘’Singularity “. It is not such much of a departure but an evolution of what has come before, stretching their style and sound as they pursue the unknown in a journey that adds touches of electronica and atmosphere to their music and excellent lyricism.
