Metal-Roos: Greetings, Everlost. Welcome to Metal-Roos! It’s an honour to have you here.
Everlost: Thanks for inviting us, Metal -Roos. Our pleasure.
MR: Almost 20 years on stage… how does Everlost feel about reaching this milestone?
Everlost: It’s been a long journey with ups and downs. We’ve started as a typical teenage band and we grew together both personally and musically.
MR: This year, you released 2 singles: Warrior and Supernova. What can you say about them and how was the reception of the fans?
Everlost: It’s been a while since our latest release (Everlost “V”) came out. We had a lot of things going on in our lives. Our band leader Andrey Smirnoff (also known as a guitarist/composer for German heavy metal band U.D.O.) was quite busy last couple of years touring with U.D.O, so we took this time to concentrate on writing new material. Most of the bands nowadays are releasing singles. Feedback from our fans was great, we’ve got a very loyal and dedicated audience through the years.
MR: Over time, the band has always been exploring and improving their sound that today can be considered “Modern Metal”. Can you tell us about this journey and its influences?
Everlost: We grew up listening to different kinds of music but mostly classic rock and heavy metal. In the middle of the 90-es music industry has changed a lot, especially in heavy genres. We’ve channeled inspiration from the band’s like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest but at the same time from In Flames, Death, Dark Tranquility, and others. We’ve been always open-minded and creative in order to find our own sound and style, experimenting with different kinds of vocals and electronic arrangements. And we still do.
MR: You have a lot of gigs under your belt. Any funny anecdotes?
Everlost: Being born in the country of ex USSR does not make life easy for the band like ours. Back in the days, it was not even safe to walk with long hair and metal outfit. Our first shows were already crazy enough because they were at public events, like city celebrations, etc. People were shocked to hear “roaring bear” on the stage instead of pop and folk acts which were more usual back then.
MR: In all these years, what was the most exciting moment of Everlost’s career?
Everlost: I believe the most exciting moment is yet to come, but sure there were a lot of special moments in our career, like our first deal with a record label, our first tour with polish death metal maniacs VADER, our first show in Europe, etc.
MR: How is Everlost feeling during the world pandemic of Corona?
Everlost: We use all our free time for maximum creativity, and we have a strong belief that after every crisis there should be a renaissance of culture and art. And we will be ready for that.
MR: What are your plans for the future?
Everlost: We are planning to release full album track by track, and more video works. So please stay tuned on our new material.
MR: Send some cheers to all the fans of metal.
Everlost: In these challenging and uncertain times, it is very important to stay positive and seek happiness in every form. Music brings that feeling! Stay strong and safe metal maniacs.
MR: Thanks, Everlost, for the interview. It was a pleasure to have you here. Please tell us your social media so we can follow your career.
Everlost: You are always welcome!
