IRON SAVIOR – Firestar (Album Review)

IRON SAVIOR - Firestar

Iron Savior has released “Firestar”, their 13th album, and the Germans have captured their 26-year solid career in this full length.

“The Titan” is an intro with Folk vibes, also a Power Metal driving full force that will lead you on a high calibre journey.

Iron Savior can bring you also a Heavy Metal experience and that is the case of “Curse of the Machinery”. A catchy riff by Joachim Küstner, strong drumming by Patrick Klose, vitalised bass by Jan S. Eckert and the raging voice of Piet Sielck set a perfect start.

“In the Realm of Heavy Metal” is an epic anthem. Some high-speed Metal is involved as the lyrics are the most powerful metal possible: “In the kingdom of thunder and steel. Where monsters and dragons are real.”

“Demise of the Tyrant” brings calmness as speed is reduced, but with the same strength that a classic Heavy Metal band would have.

A perfect timing for speeding is in the title track. Sielck and Küstner display their greatness as a guitar duo and the solo is one of the most pleasing.

“Through The Fires Of Hell” is an interesting song, because is a romantic one. The tune is still heavy, despite Sielck dedicating this song to his wife and the musician says that they were together during good and bad times, so he will be the hero and would go to rescue his queen to hell if it is needed.

“Mask, Cloak and Sword” is a mix of a dense Teutonic Heavy Metal and a complex Power Metal, meanwhile Sielck tells the story of a masked saviour.

A Hard Rock vibe can be felt in “Across the Wastelands”. Klose gives a perfect drumming as his energy does not vanish in each beat.

“Rising from Ashes” is another Teutonic Heavy Metal banger. Speed is unpredictable in this one as the voice and chorus are in a perfect pitch.

A pop version of Iron Savior can be heard in the song “Nothing Is Forever”. Nevertheless, they sound like Power and Heavy Metal as always. Also, the Germans remind us of an important message and this is one of the most unforgettable lines of the album: “Nothing is forever. In a universe of change. Live your dreams and make it happen.”

“Nothing Is Forever” would have been a perfect ending, but “Together as One” is better. You will enjoy this song because of the Iron Saviour essence in every key and your ears will not be tired. In the end, you would love to hear again the high calibre journey named “Firestar”.
