LORD - Undercovers Vol.1 (Album Review)

LORD is an Aussie heavy metal band from Wollongong, NSW. I’ve personally never been a massive fan of traditional heavy metal, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to check out the latest cover’s release by these guy’s. I’ve heard some previous songs by them and I thought they were pretty great.

This full album features a whopping 23 eclectic tracks. Ranging from IRON MAIDEN, to SAVAGE GARDEN, to JUDAS PRIEST, to JOHNNY FARNHAM. There are no barriers. 11 out of those 23 are available on streaming services, so if you want the full release, you’ll have to buy the digital download! There’s also plenty of package deals available via their Bandcamp.

My favourite song of the lot would have to be the live version of METALLICA’s Creeping Death. PANTERA’s Shattered was a close second, and THE POLICE’s Message In A Bottle I also loved. But I did also enjoy the metalled up versions of some of the pop covers off the album, like KYLIE MINOGUE’s On A Night Like This.

All in all, I think it’s a great release. The production and musicianship is brilliant. Although it’s not something I’d listen to on the regular, it would be a fun album to crank out from time to time.

They’re an extremely talented band, and I think traditional heavy metal fans and LORD fans will love it!
