LUMENS share single “Primrose” off self-titled debut EP

LUMENS

Adelaide progressive metalcore up-and-comers LUMENS share their second single, Primrose, off their self-titled debut EP, out Friday April 11 via Wild Thing Records.

Primrose is a cathartic exploration of internal conflict, self-awareness, and the weight of personal expectations. Abrasive instrumentation mirrors the lyrical journey; wrestling with ambition, delusion, and the struggle for control. The song delves into the seductive allure of fleeting satisfaction, the endless pursuit of fulfilment, and the consequences of surrendering to familiar vices.

“Primrose is deeply personal to me,” says vocalist Rhys Jackson Stars“It’s about the struggle to maintain a balance between satisfaction and the pursuit of true fulfilment. The primrose path may seem inviting, but sometimes, there are flowers you shouldn’t smell along the way”

Primrose follows on from leading single In Too Deep which released last month and captured the urgency of resistance, with aggressive, jittery energy that drives a message home. It’s a searing critique of societal control and the manipulative forces that restrict personal freedom.

Both Primrose and In Too Deep introduce listeners to LUMENS forthcoming debut EP, which explores the raw complexities of human existence. The EP dives deep into themes of inner battles, societal defiance, and the search for identity and freedom. It weaves a sonic narrative that’s both punishing and breathtaking— every riff, breakdown, and melody reflects the tension between chaos and catharsis, challenging listeners to confront their own struggles and aspirations.

With their relentless energy, innovative sound, and unapologetic authenticity, LUMENS have been carving a name for themselves since their debut in 2022 with HNSN. The four-piece—Rhys Jackson Stars (vocals), George Carey (guitar), Henry Scott (bass), and Miles Sly (drums)—have achieved national recognition, earning spots on editorial Spotify playlists Homegrown + Heavy and Fresh Finds Heavy as well as airplay on triple j, community radio, triple j Unearthed rotation and a coveted feature artist spotlight.

Making a name for themselves for their dynamic live performances, LUMENS combine blistering guitar solos, crushing breakdowns and soaring melodies with a raw intensity that captivates audiences. Their immersive live experience has earnt them stage time with The Omnific, LUNE, Heartline, Signals and Harroway to name a few.

Uncompromising in their artistry, LUMENS is poised to take their music to new heights, with the self-titled EP marking a defining chapter in their journey. In Too Deep and Primrose is out now and streaming everywhere. ‘LUMENS’ the EP will be available Friday April 11 via Wild Thing Records.
