Melbourne Metalcore outfit, Vatic, take no prisoners with the release of their raging new single “No Sleep” alongside the announcement of their new EP ‘Mercer 217‘, releasing Friday October 21.

Continuing to combine their use of cinematic textures with thumping metalcore riffs and grooves, Vatic do away with melodic hooks on “No Sleep” and bring listeners straight into the fold of protagonist Chance’s manic episode.

“No Sleep” is the second installment from forthcoming EP ‘Mercer 217’ and follows on from previous single “217” which established the haunting setting in which the narrative takes place. “217” can now be revealed as the first piece to the puzzle, and the first part of the address in which the EP’s all-encompassing story unfolds.

Vocalist Matt Payne details, “217 sets the scene around this haunted house, where most of our story happens. There are holes in the walls and floors where bodies are hiding, their souls wandering and tormenting the house, never sleeping.”

“No Sleep” is a glimpse into the horror that Chance is living and becoming. It’s a short thundering tune that leads to grimy realisations – it’s hunt or be hunted. Inspired by classic horror slashers and psychopaths, the new track is the first sign that Chance is becoming something more sinister in this next chapter.

“No Sleep” and “217” are brought to life by long time collaborator and producer, Nick Sjogren (Thornhill) who produced, mixed, mastered and engineered the full EP. NJV media joins the team to provide the glitchy, unsettling visual backdrops that compliment.

Since its release in March, “217” has accumulated over 25,000 digital streams and counting alongside radio play from both triple j The Racket and triple j short.fast.loud. The track was met with Spotify playlisting on release from Homegrown + Heavy, All New Metal and was added to Knotfest’s curated playlist Pulse Of The Maggots.

To catch “No Sleep” and “217” live, Vatic will jump up to support Bad/Love on their ‘Nothing To Lose’ launch show at Stay Gold on the 27th of August. Tickets available via Eventbrite.
