Nihility – Beyond Human Concepts (Album Review)

Release Date: January 8th 2022 - Vicious Instinct Records

Nihility - Beyond Human Concepts

The name really stands out for what the band plays, as Nihility does not shy away from being influenced by the legendary Decapitated album, and grabs crumbs of influences here and there throughout the polish death metal scene.

Beyond Human, Concepts is their latest release, and it’s nothing short of a death metal powerhouse, fully digesting the old school vibes, and even throwing in thrashy moments here and there, and the album seems like it’s a blend of the 90s and the 2010s coming together as a strong alliance.

No risks are taken structure-wise, but the job is done within the rules of art with efficient riff progressions and very catchy rhythm patterns.

The drum is blasting away throughout the album, and there never was a rule against it, as it’s one of the most mouth-watering components of a death metal release, and we’re well served by the drummer on this LP. Meticulous technical mastery, and tight on the tempo, all while sounding raw and natural, with few modifications left to post-production, a genuineness we so much lack in modern metal.

An album that perfectly translates its cover into notes, and creates the atmosphere you’d expect when you see an artwork so dark, very pleasing to witness enough talent to transform images into music, all of which is emphasized by a very balanced production. Death metal at its finest.
