Lethal Vendetta – No Prisoners, No Mercy (Album Review)

APRA/AMCOS recently released a shocking statistic in regards to the legislatively besieged Sydney music scene. An unbelievable 176 venues have vanished in the last 4 years in the broader metro area – and yet, as we always do, the stoics of the metal scene plough on through.

Why the unusual opener for a review? Because times like this make me incredibly fucking thankful for bands like Lethal Vendetta. Pillars of steel that keep the lifeblood of the scene flowing.

I first saw Lethal Vendetta during their first international support; the overlords of Teutonic thrash,
DESTRUCTION at Sydney’s Manning Bar. Standing front and centre with good mates, whilst dual-wielding frosty brews were the best way to brace against Lethal’s merciless wall of sound. Plus, front-man Brent Logan’s unique, friendly banter in between songs has a way of making you almost spit your drink laughing.

Recently concluding a national tour in support of their debut album “No Prisoners, No Mercy”, Lethal Vendetta played prestigious events around the country, such as Metal of Honour (Brisbane), Legions of Steel (Melbourne), Metal Storm and the first Metal United World Wide (both Sydney) as well as Churches of Steel II (Adelaide).

“No Prisoners, No Mercy”, brings a solid & faithful amalgam of thrash and trad that is intrinsic to Sydney’s proud metal heritage. Spinning the silver, this album is a sonically rich auditory assault that reflects Lethal Vendetta’s live performance. From the throat-ripping, Aeolian centric riffage of “Final Conflict” to the title track “No Prisoners, No Mercy”, the album bears hallmarks that might get one a bit reminiscent of early Testament.

The guys have already hit the ground running into the second half of the year. A few weeks ago, Lethal Vendetta released their latest music video to their banger of a track “Salute to the Gods”, which was filmed at the long-standing Sydney Metal Meetup – another heartening sign of the resilience in the Sydney scene.

Their camp has announced a couple of following updates, and this is a band you need to experience live to truly appreciate:
