Nur NH: Premieres Video for Inspirational Comeback Single, I’m Done With You.

Nur NH

Nur NH has returned to the world of music after 10 years absent from the scene. This absence was not by choice but was the result of living through a decade-long nightmare of domestic violence. It’s safe to say that Nur NH is back with a vengeance, regaining her power and finding solace in the ability to create again.

I’m Done With You was the first song Nur penned when she was able to return to creating music. It is a song packed with meaning, emotion, vulnerability, vengeance, hope and inspiration. Nur dedicates this song to women all over the world who have been, and continue to be, victims of domestic abuse, and she hopes that this song will help those women find the strength to escape the cruelty, find a sense of fearlessness and step into their power to embrace a life of freedom.

Production of I’m Done With You was completed in Sydney, Australia, with the assistance of producer Greg Stace. The video was then filmed in Borneo and was crafted with a great deal of thought.

The video features dancers from Borneo, of the Dayak tribe, the original inhabitants of Borneo. It was important to Nur to showcase her roots in this video to highlight that whilst she is moving away from her past, she is not abandoning her people and culture.

A full production crew descended on an abandoned field in a Borneo village to bring the visual accompaniment of I’m Done With You to life, a process that took three days.

“We had a lot of fun, but it was also a very emotional journey creating this video,” expresses Nur NH, “The items destroyed are real, the tears are real.”

The video is brimming with powerful symbolism and Nur seized the opportunity to turn her pain into art. You will witness the burning of a yellow dress and a paper document, as well as the destruction of other items that symbolise letting go of the past and stepping into freedom.

Nur explains, “The dress was my traditional wedding dress that I wore in 2015, and yes, it really got burned.”

Along with the dress, the paper document was Nur’s real-life certificate of marriage. These items travelled through multiple countries to meet their end on the sands of Borneo, to help Nur bring closure to her tortured past, all the while creating an incredibly impactful statement of resilience like a phoenix rising from the flames.

Nur NH further reveals, “The tears seen in the clip, the emotion and expression of feeling, are all real at seeing these items again. When I left my home, my country of residence, these things were actually the only items I took from the house as I ran for my life, with full intentions of destroying them in a spectacular way at a later stage.”

It was important to Nur that the original items, not replicas, be destroyed in order to ensure the emotional reactions captured on film were genuine.

“The crew were all worried how we would proceed with the video if we messed up a take,” Nur smiles, “Luckily bar a few near misses, all went well.”

It can’t be denied that there is a great deal of bravery behind the creation of I’m Done With You and its video, and music fans are guaranteed to be moved and inspired by Nur NH.

I’m Done With You makes it’s impactful and inspirational premiere today Saturday October 7.
