Dirty Rats - Rock n Roll

Whenever I think of old rocker music I always see old car leather seats, the smell of cigar smoke, chorded pants and maybe the occasional moccasin.

I know if there is a band out there trying to get me to become nostalgic about rock n roll, and they make me feel like this, then they’ve succeeded in their inception and I can go on believing I’m Leonardo DiCaprio.

Aptly named Rock n Roll by Dirty Rats is that old rocking stuff that your uncle used to play, but with a positive twist.

I admire these guys for their attempt to bring some positive messages to their work without damaging the integrity of their music. There are some really catchy moments in there, some great choruses that would be amazing live, especially if you’re keen on a drink or two and a good night at with on the door.

The song structures are probably what you expect, nothing too out there, but when you’re on a winning formula, what is there to change? I will say this though; the production needs a bit of work. Definitely not the worst I’ve ever heard, but in places the solos are too quiet, the drums boom a little too much and the voice can waver in quality.

But this all wouldn’t stop you from having a good time, so let’s take it for what it is; some good old fashioned rock n roll. Suitable for those who can’t remember the 70s.
