Defy Tolerance – Stop The Bleeding (Album Review)

Heavy/Hard Rock rather than metal strictly speaking is what these guys play which is right up my alley.

Heavily distorted guitars with a big drum sound and slight touches of keys interspersed throughout to fill in the sound.

There’s more than a slight touch of Harem Scarem in their sound if you ask me which is certainly not a bad thing. This is their debut album which usually means that their influences are going to come through quite heavily and I think this is what happens here. You can hear a number of influences coming through in their sound but I still think they haven’t quite melded all of these influences into their own sound although they’re not very far off either. The press release that came with the album says “There’s much more to Defy Tolerance than meets the eye. They’re just beginning to scratch the surface – wait until they find the depth that lies underneath.” which I think hits the nail right on the head.

This is a very strong debut from these guys and I look forward to hearing what they will be bringing to our ears in the future. I hope that they find “the depth that lies underneath” by the 2nd release so as they can become the great band that we catch glimpses of on this album.
