Sydney heavy rockers, Wicked Envy, are ready to make their mark on the Australian heavy music scene with their enthralling new single and video for ‘Outsider.’ Directed by The Beautiful Monument’s Amy McIntosh, the video takes you on a dark and thrilling journey from the get go, allowing the heart-pounding drums, soaring rhythms and bewitching vocals to manifest in physical form.
This thrilling new release is straight up rock n’ roll with an alternative heavy twist. Vocalist, Des Hancock, inflicts compelling melodies and stand out emotional dynamics that will seep into your ears and make a little home there. The guitars and bass are heavy and dirty paying homage to 90’s grunge adding a dark element to the music.
Hancock speaks on the new single: “I have always felt like an outsider throughout my life, wanting to fit in and be included but born to be different and now I’m ok with that. This song reeks vengeance, judgment and enigma. From beginning to the end, the intention is hinted at but the outcome remains unclear. Dark, mysterious and somewhat supernatural. The opening vocals are atmospheric and breathy, kind of spell-like to entice the audience into the story.
‘Outsider’ is emotionally-charged like a classic horror movie and we wanted the music video to reflect that. We had a blast writing and recording ‘Outsider’ and believe it’s our best track yet. We hope rock fans feel the same.”
For fans of The Pretty Reckless, Waax as well as classic icons like The Smashing Pumpkins, Wicked Envy started to pave their way in the Australian music scene last year via their first two releases, ‘It’s Been A Longtime’ and ‘Frantic.’ Both singles achieved global media coverage and earned them sold-out shows on the East Coast. Wicked Envy will be playing alongside Wicked Things & High at The Chippo Hotel On Friday 11th March. Tickets available here: bit.ly/GigOztix
