THE 7TH GUILD - Triumviro

The 7th Guild are a power metal band from Italy formed in 2021 by vocalist Tomi Fooler (Skeletoon) with a vision to put together a trio of metal singers in the vein of the legendary operatic trio Three Tenors, and pay homage to the rich Italian cultural heritage – Ivan Giannini (Derdian, Artaban’s Redemption, Violet Eternal, ex Vision Divine) and Giacomo Voli (Rhapsody Of Fire) completing the threesome. The band’s debut album ‘Triumviro’ was released in 2025…

…featuring a line-up consisting of guitarist Simone Mularoni (DGM, ex Sunstorm), bass player Francesco Ferraro (Freedom Call, Artaban’s Redemption), keyboardist Alessio Lucatti (Vision Divine, Deathless Legacy), and drummer Michael Ehre (Gamma Ray, The Unity, ex Primal Fear) with orchestral arrangements by Daniele Mazza (Ancient Bards) alongside founder Fooler, Giannini and Voli. Phew what a line-up – and one that would suggest The 7th Guild are a “supergroup”, for supergroups are defined as “a group formed by musicians already famous from playing in other groups”, groups such as Sacred, Withering Scorn, Elegant Weapons, The Three Tremors, Metal Allegiance, Act Of Defiance, Hollywood Vampires and Heaven & Hell to name just a few! So what about the album I hear you all cry – well let’s go find out shall we!

‘Triumviro’ is a forty eight minute “journey through the most iconic Italian arts form led by compelling songs that combines the majesty of opera and the attitude of symphonic power metal” with every one of the nine songs on offer loaded to the hilt with elegance and grandeur – ‘Holy Land’ immediately into its stride to roar louder than a pride of lions! The pace, power and urgency here is incredible. The 7th Guild launching their debut album skyward at a hundred miles an hour, the head of every listener rocking back and forth in perfect harmony with the band – the band’s self-titled song ‘The 7th Guild’ maintaining the album’s phenomenal start! And at a faster pace too, ‘The 7th Guild’ travelling faster than the speed of light as the Italian outfit ooze an energy level greater than the fucking Sun! What an absolutely glorious opening brace, a double delight to turn the heads of everyone in the direction of the band as The 7th Guild drop a gear or two for ‘Glorious’ – a hymn-like aura descending upon ‘Triumviro’ like a lift descends a skyscraper! The majestic ground-shuddering march is fabulous and definitely resonates with the operatic feel the band are aiming for. A direct hit if you ask me!

And presumably singing in the bands native language, ‘La Promessa Cremisi’ (“the crimson promise”) increases the thunder to gallop on with all the get up and go of traditional heavy metal, the band melding together two of the greatest genres of metal music ever into one colossal grandiose gesture – the bands three singer attack in full swing as The 7th Guild continue their impressive entrance onto the world metal stage. ‘In Nomine Patris’ (“in the name of the father”) is a mighty hymn-like swagger that after just thirty seconds in explodes into life at the fastest pace seen on the album so far, The 7th Guild progressing to roar through the gears – both down and up many times across ‘In Nomine Patris‘s staggering six and a half minute run time! And talking of time, ‘Time’ is a three minute mellow meander over a sparkling keyboard backdrop, all the power and oomph of the album so far tightly reined in, The 7th Guild switching to power balladry as the two minute mark approaches – a seamless switch the band take easily in their stride to make it look like it’s the most natural thing in the world!

A terrific first two thirds to the album, the final third begins with ‘Guardians Of Eternity’ standing firmly and squarely in the heavy/power metal genre – the band maintaining their penchant for roaming round a multitude of metal territories to deliver a myriad of styles to a varied and very wide audience. An audience that’s been hooked on ‘Triumviro’ right from the off and has absolutely no intention of going anywhere else right now, are loving every minute of every song, the sensational acceleration at ‘Guardians Of Eternity‘s four minute mark simply jaw dropping! And like a force ten hurricane, ‘The Metal Charade’ is a ferocity driven rampage of all out power and pace, The 7th Guild breaking every law of physics and motion to hurtle across the land at phenomenal speed – everything and everyone in the bands path instantly flattened flatter than a slice of focaccia bread! And bringing a stunning album to a close, ‘Fairy Tale’ is a fantastical folk metal march – for the first minute or so anyway, the band heavying things up a tonne to slam every listener through the fucking wall! And as ‘Fairy Tale’ progresses, The 7th Guild adopt a mesmerising tempo changing swagger with immense levels of elegance and majesty, ‘Triumviro’ taking a final bow to a standing ovation.

Overall, a staggering mix of power metal thunder, operatic leanings and epic orchestrations, ‘Triumviro’ is a jaw dropping debut album.
