Psycroptic is a four-piece technical death metal band from Tasmania. The album has 9 songs, is released in 2012, and is their fifth album.
An explosion of double kick opens the album. Carriers of the plague is a very heavy and very busy track.

I can see why Psycroptic has been around 15 years. There are some huge riffs on this song, and I particularly like how they deliver the pulverizing bridge (“Holding the skeleton key”). A standout if not my favorite. These guys know how to open an album.
This CD comes with a free DVD with 20 minutes of band interviews and studio footage on it. They claim in the interview that they have simplified their composition considerably so their earlier stuff must have been nuts.

Forward to submission does not mess around and pounds out a relentless number. Euphorinasia begins with a clean-picked introduction before spiraling into a contagious, distorted riff.
The Throne of Kings starts with some serious intensity and has my full attention. This is the strongest track on the album among eight other very strong songs in my opinion. Every measure seems constructed to increase the tension within this beast of a song.
From Scribe to Ashes also has some of the best lyrics I have heard in ages (“the pen is mightier than the sword yet we burnt the paper that we needed”). As a quick aside to bands submitting music; please provide lyrics as otherwise, it’s difficult to comment on your subject matter, pending on how aggressive your vocals are. Deprivation changes it up a bit also, but it’s still a Psycroptic song and very solid. The Sleepers have awoken finishes the album in style.
Douches mastered this album, and it’s a great introduction to Psycroptic for the uninitiated. However, this album does sit around the more technical and extreme area. If you are not into that, you may not get just how good this album is.
