The Plague – Erosion of Gods (Album Review)

The Plague - Erosion of Gods

The Plague has released their second full-length album called “Erosion of Gods”, in which the Sydney musicians play tribute to the 90s old-school Death Metal.

Creepy bells announce the beginning of something raw called “Harbinger of the Abyss”. Within the first seconds, we are into the chaotic riff of the song “Hacked and Butchered”. Madness overloads with the energetic screaming, on-point drums and dense bass.

We can expect lots of changes of rhythm in this full length. This is much appreciated in the second track “Living Catatonic”.

“Impulsive Convulsions” sounds like the title suggests. It is a brutal and hardcore ride.

“Incinerated” starts with a flaming riff that it is easy to headbang to. A catchy song that never loses the brutality of this Sydney band.

A different tone and sound have “Desolate Wasteland”. Groovy but still a Death Metal anthem. Frying vocals are top-notch.

Old school and slow build-up we can hear in “Rotten Dried And Mummified”. This is a song that Death Metal is all about with those contrasts and divergences.

Cool drums are played in “Roadside Burial”. This band does not have the intention to stop. It is just the anger and brutality released.

“Entrenched In Decay” is a banger for concerts. Exceeds the needs of the bloodthirsty metalheads. Do not miss the vicious solo.

The last song is the title track “Erosion Of Gods”. The first part is a calm Death Metal, but this is an uplifting track that can drive you into madness.

Pleasant and morbid tunes have the second album of The Plague. The Sydney metallers prove that Death Metal is rich in all types of sounds that are gruesome, heavy and even melodic.
