Modern metal outfit URAGH, venture into progressive realms as they explore personal and emotive lyrical themes in their upcoming album, Maelstrom. Due for digital release on April 19th, 2024, “The Widening Gyre”, the second single taken from the album, will be out on 9th of February.
Based in Dublin, Ireland, URAGH produce music that incorporates a combination of progressive, alternative, and modern metal. Formed by Marcelo Varge (guitar), in 2022. Marcelo was quickly joined by Jason Hodgkins on drums and Sebastian Sparr on bass. After months of searching for a vocalist, Craig Murphy eventually joined and completed the line up of what is now known as URAGH.
The band unveiled their first single “Decimate” in June of 2023, before heading into to the studio to work on their debut full-length. The initial taste of Maelstrom, “Monarch” landed in November of last year showcasing the harsher and more abrasive sound intended for the album, a slight shift from the melodic “Decimate”. “The Widening Gyre” provides a further glimpse into the band’s musical direction embracing the proggier side of their sound, without neglecting the emotional outbursts that they have become known for during several cathartic moments in their gigs this year.
