Avskräde - Undergång

Avskräde is a Swedish band that spawned in 2021. They are supposed to be a Black Metal duo, as the promotional photos suggest, but in concert, four musicians are performing on stage. They recently added to their catalogue the second album called “Undergång”.

“Må du brinna” is a fast one. It is a burst and a blast of 2 minutes 36 seconds.

The next track is “När bönerna tystnat”, a slower one. It seems the recording is messier, like hearing an old Black Metal tape. Not lighter, but still thick and dense as ever.

“Mänsklighetens avskräde” starts with an intriguing and captivating riff. The rhythms change at the precise moment creating a menacing song.

Awesome frying vocals are executed in “Av lågornas hunger förtäras”. The Guitar is exceptional too, when it collides with the vocals.

“Natten nalkas” is extremely fast and with no surprises. Drums are carefully discharged as you can hear little details.

“Naturen Borg” has a steady riff, a simple structure song that means “Nature’s castle”.

A creepy water sound flows as the intro of “Forskarlen” as this song talks about a mad scientist.

“Ty du skall ner i jorden skrämmas” has that old tape sound again. Another dense 4 minutes and 19 seconds awaits you.

In “Mörker du majestätiska” and “Ångest” you can feel the “Black’N’Roll” type of songs. They are accelerated and in your face type of track.

“Fry” is the last one. Double bass unrest in which the growls are exceptional as the song proceeds its curse.

Inspired by old-school Black Metal, Avskräde has created an album with a safe and common formula that is a reckless, yet amusing ride.
