IGNITED - Cradle Of The Wicked

Ignited is a heavy metal band from Brazil formed in 2017, releasing their debut album ‘Steelbound’ in 2019, and sophomore album ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ in 2023…

…featuring a heavier, much more thrashier sound! The band’s debut was an unstoppable, ground-pounding march of intense “foot on the monitor” heavy metal – the new album, a ground shuddering heavy as fuck ferocity driven gallop! The ten songs on offer roar by in just forty minutes, ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ opening with the fast-paced title song, ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ – replete with screeching vocals, screaming guitars and a head bang ability second to none! The meld of traditional metal with thrash is savage, ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ (the song) appealing equally to metallers and thrashers. What a start…

…a start that just gets better with the even faster-paced ‘The Overflow’, portraying an incredible power metal feel alongside its traditional foot-on-the-monitor gallop. The band’s second album may be heavier and thrashier than their debut, but it’s also more aggressive too! That’s a good thing though, I like aggressive, heavy and thrashy – the opening double salvo scoring a direct in my sweet spot! Oh yeah! And with a dramatic change of pace, ‘At The Damned’s Hall’ adopts the mighty power-driven, foot-stomping style of legends Judas Priest – the phenomenal oomph oozing from ‘At The Damned’s Hall’ perfectly echoing the British icons. And the intensity level too – sky high since the album began, the band remaining at the heavier end of the heavy metal genre as ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ (the album) marches on with the mighty ‘Bloody Satisfied’, crushing skulls and snapping bones with a heaviness heavier than the heaviest thing you can think of! Ignited is hitting listeners with a double-barrelled blast of immense heavy metal, taking no prisoners and definitely giving no quarter!

With the majority of songs on offer less than three minutes in length, the album is fast moving with no time for a breather, the band striding on with ‘Uncontrollable’, an unforgiving bomb blast of devastating metal to leave only a desolate wasteland behind! The band from Brazil are laying waste to everything in front of them, delivering a pounding similar to a jackhammer smashing concrete! And displaying more menace than heard so far, ‘The Sewer Lords’ continues the pounding with just a slight hint of doom metal – Ignited heavying things up even more. Just how heavy can the band get? Probably a helluva lot more, but for now the band bring a massive melodic rock flavour to the fore, ‘Life Goes By’ starting as though ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ (the album) is heading for balladry! But hell no – the band have other ideas, switching tempo to send ‘Life Goes By’ into anthemic territory, stomping heavily over everything and everyone standing in its way.

Resuming the power-driven style of heavy metal from earlier, the band restore pace to the album, ‘Nightshift’ striding forth with an immense traditional flavour, firmly planting its feet on the monitor ala the classic heavy metal stance! The incredible intensity level stretching right through the heart of ‘Cradle Of The Wicked’ (the album) remains as strong as ever, ‘Tearing Down The Walls’ racing out the blocks like an Olympic sprinter going for gold! But unlike the sprinter who remains at high velocity for the entire run, ‘Tearing Down The Walls’ changes gear and shifts tempo, all the while pummelling listeners with utter savagery! And bringing the album to a close, ‘Abyss Of Fear’ returns aggression and menace to the fore, Ignited marching on with prominent purpose and incredible intent.

Overall, a searing blast of power-driven heavy metal, featuring immense head-bang ability and a sky-high infectious level.
