CORBIAN - Chapter II

Corbian opens up 2022 with a banger of a release. The German band comes back strong after their 2020 “The Raven Cult”, and thrashes us up with a blasphemous, aggressive, and blazing fast extreme metal album untitled “Chapter II”.

It is a relentless heavy hitter, displaying an incredible technicality at double bass drumming, and the ability to add slow stomping riffs into the mix, spicing up the whole thing with melodic riffing sequences. Tough to categorize, but you can feel a lot of influences here and there, mixing all things hardcore, and a riffing whose only aim is to melt your face, just a bullet coming straight into your face, coming so fast that you can only feel it perforating your skull, and making your eyes pop out of their orbit. Fair to say that Corbian took all the things that are straight as an arrow and mixed them all up into an album that kicks out 2022 in a very metal fashion.

Blaspheme, aggression, violence, and brutality, all the components needed to prove that metal is alive and well and that more and more young metal acts are rising up to kick society in the butt. The riffs are rich in terms of influence, and the drums serve the release very well, in the sense that they emphasize the guitar parts, and build rhythm patterns that you can’t resist headbanging to. The vocals are dry and lacerating, and they reach out to the deepest and darkest corners of your soul to bring out the rage in you, and make you spin in the pit. A very motivating album to start 2022 with, and a band to look out for in the future, probably an extreme metal festival headliner.
