Killswitch Engage – Disarm The Descent (Album Review)

Killswitch Engage - Disarm The Descent

Disarm the Descent is the latest album from the guys out of Westfield Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage. It is also their first release with returning frontman Jesse Leach after an eleven-year absence.

Their last offering Killswitch Engage was a weaker effort thought by many so this new album had questions to answer. From the very start, this record answered some of the questions with that signature blast that KSE starts off with. A great first track ‘The Hell in Me’ which really sets the tone and lets you know this is a good KSE album. As usual most of the tracks are around 3 to 4 minutes with a great tempo and heaviness throughout, and a noticeable improvement in Jesse’s vocals something he has been working on since his last tenure. ‘In Due Time’ the first single is an instant classic and obvious future fan favourite at live shows.

Other standouts include ‘Turning Point’ and ‘All We Have’ with there even being a Killswitch version of a ballad in ‘Always’. I really liked this album from start to finish with no obvious weak points and a definite return to form. You always know what you are going to get with a Killswitch Engage album, great tight sound and heavy fast catchy metal songs. This will certainly make all long time KSE fans happy and might just grab some new ones as well.
