It is said that there is an alchemical power in collaborations. And if there’s one thing that drives the creation of music, it’s the belief that anything is possible. The FURIES have understood this well in 2023. The duo, then consisting of Guillaume Jockey (guitar) and Zaza Bathory (drums), decided to create a dream list of artists they would like to collaborate with, while also looking for new permanent members. Impressive singer Brittney Slayes from the Canadian band UNLEASH THE ARCHERS took the top spot straight away.

Upon releasing their debut album “Fortune’s Gate” in 2020, FURIES explored UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ discography, partly because their name was oddly similar to their standout track “Unleash The Furies” and partly because both bands occasionally appeared on playlists together. In the same year the Canadians also released their highly acclaimed album “Abyss”. The duo envisioned Brittney Slayes, widely considered power metal’s most talented frontwoman, lending her powerful and epic voice to one of their tracks.

Composed in 2021 by Guillaume Jockey in a world still in lockdown, “Poisoned” leans towards darker tones and reflects the guitarist’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a single style. By introducing subtle progressive metal elements into the FURIES universe, “Poisoned” proves that the band doesn’t want to be bound by genre boundaries.
