Kryptos – Force Of Danger (Album Review)

Very few bands on this planet are as fun and enthusiastic as India’s very own world-beating sons of Thrash. Having interviewed them a few years back I got to see the side of world music I had never even thought of. The Indian Subcontinent Bangalore has produced some of the best modern non-mainstream metal in the past few years and these boys are the pinnacle of the movement that is ragging in their homeland. Formed in 1998 by Nolan Lewis (vocals and Guitar) and Ganesh K (Bass guitar). Both lovers of NWOBHM and thrash faced an uphill battle to carve an audience for their deranged and sublimely cartoon-like mix of traditional metal and Bay Area thrash. But that they did and in 2004 they released their seminal first record Spiral Ascent. Then with 4-year intervals, they plowed on through releasing album after album till in 2019 they released Afterburner.

For ma a career-defying moment it seemed to coalesce all their passions and desires into one neat little package. That was until now with the release of Force Of Danger they have outdone themselves. The production is the first thing that hits me, Sharper is heavier and very assured in its dynamics.

No one is lost in the mix the stereo treatment here is a marvel of modern music, I close my eyes, and each and every member is clear and level. It’s like being at one of their shows. So thumbs up there. Next is the fun these guys bring, it shows in the vibrancy of the composition the enjoyment that Nolan has as he spits out every syllable of metal-loving madness.

Each and every track takes me right back to the days when metal was leather long hair, high tops, and tight jeans. A world of Priest, Accept, and Saxon, I put this on and I’m 19 again the music is flowing my hair is a whirlwind and my neck is about to get a nasty workout. But who cares to listen to that Solo the crash of the snare the thumping raw of the bass. As the band says on the title track FEEL THE FORCE (it’s coming for you)

Summing up here it’s plainly obvious that this band will do very, very big things in the future and the fact that they hail from a country not normally known for its heavy metal puts a big smile on this listener’s face. It goes to show guys that if like KRYPTOS you have the fire the drive and the talent, it matters not where our from you will make an album that will be talked about in hush tones by many in years to come just like these bunch of lovable long-haired guys have done.

Go Grab a copy squeeze yourself into your skinny jeans find those tired old high tops and throw some crazy shapes to what will be the best god damn album you are likely to hear this year.
