Thrashback is a crossover (thrash mixed with hardcore punk) band hailing from France.
Their debut album is Possessed.
This band really nailed the intensity and chaos which thrash is known for and at the same time having the raw energy of hardcore punk. The riffs on this album really make you want to headbang along with catchy gang vocals and interesting song structures this album really shows that good old thrash can still be made, and sound great at the same time.
There are aspects of the album that could be improved, first the mixing of the album isn’t the best.
It seems like the vocals are way too front of the rest of the instruments which kind of takes you away from all the amazing riffage that is happening. The other thing that I think could be better is the vocals, they’re not bad but could be more in your shouted/screamed to make them rawer and fit the overall style of the album.
To conclude this album is really worth a listen. If you like raw thrash the way it’s meant to be played then listening to this album is a must. Hopefully, as the band progresses will address the few issues to take them to the next level.
