Hellion – Rising of the Wizards (Re-Issue Review)

Hellion - Rising of the Wizard

Hellion are definitely bringing their skills to the table with this tasty treat Rising of the Wizards.

The complexity throughout the tracks and the creative structures of the melodies and riffs is something very special. Drums never slowing down and vocals being spat left right and centre really does give you a sense that they are very passionate about what they have produced.

Vocals, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, ranging from highs to lows, the nice middle section is where he loves to be but he likes to add the dynamics to help punch the tracks to a nice new level.

Very 90s mix and take on thrash/black with elements of almost punk.

He doesn’t mind throwing in the occasional structures to throw you off guard.

The bass player keeps smashing the lines like a crushed skull under your feet. Keeping the pace with everything he sets an insane deep dirty distortion underlying tone as he creates his own little piece of the hellish impending doom of death. He does this with great style and class.

What can I say about drums.. wow.. keeping up and smashing his way through the riffs and vocals. He keeps everyone on their toes as he lunges into blasts, semi blasts and groove elements. He attacks the tracks like he means war. If drums could chug then that would explain his drumming. Hard-hitting and fast he has definitely made this a truly awesome set of tracks.

Guitarist attacks every song, fast, slow, muted, whammy, terms, groove.. he captures it all. He has no slowing as he structures signature melodies from out of control ambition. The guitar really fills in the whole feel of thrash with elements of black. Very smooth and very fast. Technical work is fantastic and done so well.

The cover looks like an early 80s album cover which is no to bad, a bit on the simple side but is well thought out and very effective. Well done guys, keep up the great work.
