Kaerulean – The Orwellian Dream (Album Review)

Get ready to have your mind strapped to a table and taken on The Orwellian Dream journey. Kaerulean is back with their latest EP and it is one hell of a ride. This melodic death metal band have perfectly followed their earlier work Adrift and Metempsychosis with their new 1984-eque theme park of sound.

Featuring synthesiser, theremins and some sweet bass licks, The Orwellian Dream is in no way gimmicky but rather extremely successful in achieving the vibe of being a patient in a mind control tank receiving insurmountable waves of music and film into your brain. Somehow Kaerulean managed to make this experience not only comfortable for the listener but extremely exciting and something you want to experience over and again.

There is nothing reductive in their addiction to this genre and they have fantastically kept their signature heaviness while adding some incredibly unique sounds and experiences for the listener.

While Kaerulean has always created amazing music, I would say this album is hands down their greatest masterpiece and I can’t wait to see how they will hold the atmosphere together in a live show.

I am proud of them for producing such a modern and elegant concept and for pulling it off in such a brutal way.

Check out The Orwellian Dream now and have yourself a mind-blowing experience.
