ONE DAY IN PAIN - In Pain We Trust

The creation of Nicke Olsson (PUTRID VISION, ex-LEPROSY & ex-CENTINEX) during the pandemic, One Day in Pain has released several albums in quick succession. In Pain We Trust is their third in as many years and it is the embodiment of the Swedish death metal sound.

From the opening salvo of ‘’Tremors,’’ One Day In Pain makes it clear. This is pure mid-paced death metal that takes no prisoners or offers compromise. The sound is pure Sweden, so familiar it is hauntingly so in places. ‘’ Rådbråkad’’ burns brightly yet has one of the best-prolonged solos to damage these ears in a very long time. The galloping nature of ‘’Plague Imprisoning’’ is the prelude to chaos, the rapid 2/4 pummelation of some of the best lurking in the underground at the moment, and those fat distorted riffs might feel familiar, yet they are still so exciting you can’t help but get caught up in their warm fuzz infused madness. ’Kneel’’ punishes with its time changes and slower grind, when the tempo quickens it demands nothing less than a physical reaction. The title track is the epitome of the album, simply more neck cracking intensely creative good stuff with more excellent solos and stomping rhythms, which continues through the damaging groove that is ‘’Suffering My Gospel’’.

In Pain We Trust is the perfect Swedish death metal album that is all strength and no weakness, live this thing would absolutely destroy. It is raw, furious, and incredibly focused, its traditional sounds belie some intricacy and an instantly memorable sound. In Pain We Trust is a demanding and finely crafted pure death metal record!
